ABOUT WEEK 5

Events:

· Ongoing: Penny Drive (ends Tuesday 7/25 at 2:00PM!)

· Ongoing: Collecting Tricky Tray donations!

· Thursday 7/27: Penny Drive prize—pouring buckets of water on staff!

What staff is working on:

· Blocking and helping kids memorize their lines! Please be sure to have your children bring their scripts every day.

· Compiling costume lists for students

What I’m working on:

· Taking group pictures for Mid-High and finishing Staff Photos

· Business donations

· Tricky Tray

· Digital playbill for performance night

SCRIPTS

ree

Staff has requested that all lines be memorized by Monday, 7/24.

Please have your students continue to bring scripts in every day to practice (along with a pen or pencil) even when their lines are memorized. If you have any difficulties opening the documents or do not have access to a printer, please let us know and we will be more than happy to provide further guidance.

Scripts will be separated into two folders: one for Elementary, and one for Mid-High. Elementary students will be responsible for one script each, and Mid-High students will each have three. Please keep in mind that volunteers should also print a copy of the script for the Elementary classroom they are a part of. They may have a small role in the show or need a script to help others practice lines.

These links are also available on the front page of our website.

If you need any additional guidance, please let me know!

T-SHIRTS

T-shirts came early last week! If your student paid a registration fee or is a volunteer, they will automatically receive this year’s color. If your student has not yet brought home their shirt(s), please check in with your classroom teachers.

COSTUMES

Staff will be sending home costume/prop forms with all students early this week. Please ask your student to bring in their planned costumes/props by Monday, July 31st to be approved by their directors.

DROP OFF AND PICK UP

We ask you to please be mindful of our start/end times. Staff has responsibilities to attend to both before and after each session, including second jobs they must report to right at 4:00PM.

That said, we understand that it can be difficult to juggle overlapping schedules. If you have a standing conflict, please let us know so we can try to work something out that does not impede anyone else’s existing obligations.

FUNDRAISERS

We are a nonprofit organization, which means all profits go directly back into the program to fund our activities from one summer to the next. Your participation is important and appreciated!

ree

Car Wash We raised $427 for the Program at our car wash! Thank you so much!

ree

Aubree’s

Thank you for participating in our Aubree’s Fundraiser last week! We raised $273 towards the program!

ree

Penny Drive

Current Standings:

Elementary: - $6.32 (Leading)

Mid-High: - $38.64

The final day of the Penny Drive will be Tuesday, 7/25 (2:00PM). The winning team will receive their prize on Thursday, 7/27! This year, the winning group’s students will be randomly selected to dump buckets of water on staff!

ree

Tricky Tray

Our annual Tricky Tray fundraiser will take place on performance nights. We collect various donated items between $5 and $10 from families to raffle at the end of each performance night.

You can begin sending your students with these items at any time! We will collect through the final week.

We will need parent/family volunteers to sell tickets before and after the performances (you won’t miss your kids on stage!) Please let us know if you’d be interested in lending a hand in this task.

THEME THURSDAYS

ELEMENTARY SESSION ONLY

Thursday, June 29th: Class Color Day

Thursday, July 6th: Pajama (and possibly movie) Day

Thursday, July 13th: Favorite Fictional Character Day

Thursday July 20th: Crazy Hair/Hat Day

Thursday, July 27th: Dapper Day

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Please remind your students to adhere to standard school dress code. We also ask that all students wear close-toed shoes. We will be having games and activities that involve extensive movement (cardio and dance, for example), and close-toed shoes are the safest option to avoid any potential injuries.

  • Please also note that it is important to let your student’s teachers know about scheduled absences. If they need to miss some time due to illness or emergency, this is no problem! (And there is no need to “call them in” absent in these cases.) But if they will be absent for an extended period of time for camp, vacation, etc., having advance notice helps our staff prepare activities accordingly. If you included these dates in your registration already, I have those records and you do not need to inform us again.

  • If you would like to volunteer in any way, please let us know! We are asking for parents to help visit businesses in the South Lyon area, and sell Tricky Tray tickets on performance nights. We would love and appreciate any help you are able to provide, and your dedication contributes to the longevity of our program!

  • If you know of any additional fundraising opportunities, please let us know!

Elementary’s Current Points: $-10.80

Mid-High’s Current Points: $-58.80

Aubree’s

Our Aubree’s fundraiser will take place this Wednesday, July 27th, 5:00-8:00. The event applies to the $15 buffet only. The buffet includes pizza, breadsticks, salads, and drinks. For every $15 buffet meal purchased, $5 will be donated directly to Summer Enrichment.

The management and wait staff at the restaurant require families to provide at least one paper copy of the flyer per bill to assist them in record-keeping. I am attaching the official Dine to Donate participation flyer at the end of the post.

· $0.50 per single ticket

· $10 per 25 ticket bundle

You can begin sending your students with these items at any time! We will collect through the final week. We are still in need of prizes!

We will be searching for parents to help with selling tickets on show nights before and after the performance, as well as during intermission. Please let us know if you’d be interested in lending a hand in this task.
